One of my clients whose career progress was greatly dependent on positive customer reviews was intimidated with the prospect of asking his customers to give reviews. When I asked him the challenge that he faced, he said that he was afraid to ask. While he was able to confidently promote his product, he could not muster the same confidence to ask for a review. He added "Fear and Confidence are two sides of the same coin. The two shall never meet." As he was talking about his fear in asking a review, I took a coin and started playing with it, turning it over and over. He looked at it for some time and then remarked, " Though they do not meet, they could be easily turned . " A slight shift in perspective helped my client get a breakthrough in his career. Coaching can help create self awareness of one's own strengths, opportunities and challenges and enable individuals to focus on creating the results that they want.
